Which are the main routine operations to follow for a correct aquarium working?
The main maintenance procedures we recommend, in addition to the daily provision of food and regular checking of the water temperature and chemical parameters, are:
1) siphoning the bottom when required using the special aquarium gravel cleaner;
2) adding demineralised water (both in salt-water and freshwater aquariums) to replace what is lost by evaporation as soon as the water level approaches the minimum (shown on the front of the filter);
3) replacing 5-10% of the water with demineralised water at least monthly;
4) cleaning the outside of the aquarium, avoiding the use of detergents or chemical substances. Be particularly careful not to damage the bead of silicone that firmly bonds the sheets of glass together;
5) cleaning the inside of the aquarium using the floating magnetic brushes designed by Ferplast in relation to the thickness of the glass in your aquarium. A practical Ferplast cleaning kit is equipped with interchangeable blade and sponges is aslo available. The use of detergent is not recommended;
6) for the filter maintance operation see the filter chapter.
